Combat Carbine - C.L.E.E.T. Accredited

A carbine is a long gun firearm but with a shorter barrel than a rifle. Many carbines are shortened versions of full-length rifles, shooting the same ammunition, while others fire lower-powered ammunition, including types designed for pistols. The smaller size and lighter weight of carbines make them easier to handle. They are typically issued to high-mobility troops such as special-operations soldiers and paratroopers, as well as to mounted, artillery, logistics, or other non-infantry personnel whose roles do not require full-sized rifles, although there is a growing tendency for carbines to be issued to front-line soldiers to offset the increasing weight of other issued equipment. An example of this is the US Army's M4 carbine, which is standard-issue.

The Combat Carbine course is VERY fast and intense course designed to maximize a shooter’s deployment of his/her carbine’s capabilities in a close to intermediate range environment: 50 yards and less. In this course shooters will learn: shooting while moving, primary to secondary transitions, sling techniques, zero procedure, reflexive fire, reload techniques, precision fire, positional shooting, use of cover, multiple target engagements and several other appropriate topics. This is NOT going to be a slow, beginner level class.  This class is designed for shooters who are familiar with the operation of their carbine and want to maximize their effectiveness while deploying it. If you’re a police officer with a Carbine in your car, a tactical unit officer, a 3-gun shooter, a member of the military or an engaged civilian who wants to prevail on the worst day of your life, then this is the perfect class for you.

Required Equipment:

  • Carbine: any caliber 9mm-.223, 7.62x39 or similar. Please no big guns: .308 etc.
  • At least 3 magazines and a way to carry them: belt pouches, chest rig, etc. If you don’t have this it’s not a show stopper; back pockets work well and we’ve got gear you can borrow. If you’re from a communist state where they only allow 10 round magazines please let us know ahead of time and we’ll get you fixed up.
  • Sighting system ALREADY MOUNTED on your rifle with a minimum of 1x magnification such as: iron sights, red dot (Aimpoint, EO Tech, MRO, Spitfire, RMR, Vortex Venom and so forth), a variable power optic with minimum magnification of 1x such as the 1-6x optics popular in competition.
  • 1000 rounds of ammunition
  • Pistol with minimum 1 magazine, holster and 150 rounds. If you don’t have this please let us know and we’ll either provide one for you or you can opt out of this lesson.
  • Sling: single point or two point. We’ll cover both.
  • Eye and ear protection

Optional Equipment:

  • Helmet, body armor, chest rig, etc. The gear you’ll deploy in.
  • Snacks
  • Shooting mat, bipod, shooting bag. You’ll only need this for zero procedure but if the ground is wet it might be nice.
  • Knee pads
  • Chair
Note: This C.L.E.E.T. Accredited course qualifies as 16 hours towards continuing education for Oklahoma Law Enforcement Officers.
