I took the ladies class with Marshall and Travis this spring and I have to say it was AWESOME!!! I have been around guns my whole life and have taken self defense classes, but this class is different. They cover getting to know your pistol, knowing the parts, proper stance/grip, how to see danger coming and avoid it, and how to protect yourself and those you love if you have to draw your weapon to shoot. I think this class is a must for ANY woman who owns a gun! Don't rely on the men in your life to throw you tidbits about guns. Get in there and learn and train! The class was laid back, fun, and comprehensive. Marshall and Travis made it so much fun!!! The proof is in the pudding and I can say my range time is much different now! Training breeds confidence which leads to excellence and TDSA knows exactly how to get you there! Looking forward to my next class!

I would definitely classify myself as a beginner. I started shooting in December 2016 and after joining a range and taking the conceal carry course, I took the Advanced Pistol Combat Level 1 course in March 2017.
My husband has always been the protector, shooter, hunter, etc... however; he is now fighting stage 4 cancer with a terminal diagnosis. We have a 5 year old daughter and something that became very important for me and for him was to know that I'm prepared and capable of protecting myself and our daughter.
I was not as experienced as others in the course, but I learned more than I ever expected I could in 2 days! The instructors were amazing! They were patient, worked with each persons skill level and accepted nothing less than my full effort. I have been working at the range and incorporating what I learned. Now that I’ve been working on the key concepts learned at APC1, I can’t wait to take the course again to pick up more concepts, turn lessons into habits and improve my shooting. What began as needing to learn the basics for safety and self-protection has turned into a big part of my life and one of the top things I enjoy!
I feel like by attending the Tulsa Defensive Shooting Academy I am truly learning from the best!

I just wanted to take the time to say thank you so much to The Defensive Shooting Academy of Tulsa team! I was a bit nervous before I even showed up for the Advanced Combat Pistol Level 1 course and was terrified when I realized I was the newbie in the course! Before this course, I had completed my concealed carry course along with a couple of very basic 1-2 hour training sessions (basic gun safety, how to load, & clean my gun, etc.…very, very basic!!!) I also had not even put 1000 rounds through my gun in the 4 years I’ve owned it, nor had I ever used a holster…so needless to say, I needed help!

All that being said; the other students (many of whom either taught at other facilities, or for the police, or were a competitive shooter) were great and the instructors – Marshall, Kai, Travis & Jeremy) were AMAZING!!! This is not your standard classroom, book-learning, standing still training; this is hand-on, get you out of your comfort zone training and I wouldn’t have changed a thing!!! There are enough instructors per student to work with everyone on each “assignment” so everything hands-on is specific to each person’s needs.

I know I need to practice A LOT more, but I also now feel like I have the foundation to build correct muscle memory of good, safe habits that will help shooting become natural for me!! My goal over this next year is to practice what I learned and take another class! So hopefully, I will see you there! It won’t be easy and you will be challenged; but, you will have fun and you will laugh…and more importantly you will LEARN what you need to….to make you harder to kill!

I am a returning student to TDSA and this is the 2nd ACP 1 class that I have had the honor to take with such an astute cadre of instructors…It had been a few years since I had taken this class so I wondered, what new training (if any) had Marshal and the boys had come up with…The core goals of the class are still there: stance, draw, grip, trigger control, sight alignment/accuracy, and speed but they have kept the curriculum fresh with new training aids and new drills(1-2-3-4-5-6)…To my surprise, I was more focused and had a more willingness to learn the 2nd go around.
Marshal, Kia, Jeremy, and Travis kept the class fun and informative while running a very safe range.
I am an 18 year insurance industry professional and carry everyday….I feel it is my responsibility to protect my love ones because “when seconds count the police are only minutes away” …This class gives you the confidence and knowledge to win on the worst day of your life.
I would recommend this class to the new shooter and to the most seasoned competitive shooter…This class is a MUST if you are going to carrier responsibly…Also, keep your training up to date, as we have learned, shooting skills are perishable.
Kudos to Kai, Travis, Jeremy and of course Marshal for another great job!
See you on the range,

Great class as always and as a repeat student I always learn something new!! I have been training with TDSA since 2011 attending other courses they offer throughout the years. This class is like drinking from a fire hydrant (as is all their courses) with the amount of information the team at TDSA strategically teaches us!

Thank you Marshall, Jeremy, Travis and Kai for creating a great learning environment that is safe, very well structured and challenging for all shooters from different skill levels to improve their skill set. Thank you for giving me the tools to continue to work on as I go to my local range to train.

See you guys in the fall!
